1. I am no longer setting up a booth at the Cypress Market Nights at Skinner & 290. In the spring, my RA flared nearly uncontrollably, and it was a long struggle to get it to the manageable point. I’m well now, however (see #2)

2. I am currently taking courses to earn a Nursing degree.

3. I DO still sew, have a small inventory that I maintain, and keep my Etsy shop updated. However (see #4)

4. I have a completely different type of inventory. Due to less time for complex sewing projects, I have shifted focus on what I create. I am currently creating prayer cards, book marks and magnets.

Cypress Market Night will be canceled this Friday, March 26th and the following Friday, April 2nd. We are set to re-open on April 9th.

We want to thank everyone who has come out to visit and especially those who came out to support Cy- Creek High School. We know it is difficult to make plans when you aren’t sure if the market will be open, but be assured that we are doing our best to work through growing pains.

There are meetings scheduled with the Event Coordinator, the Property Owner and the apartment tenants to resolve parking issues. It is paramount that the residents see this market as a perk, not a problem of living at this location!

That said, the word is that for the time being Cypress Market Night will be open once a month, on the second Friday of the month.

I hope you continue to visit Rainy Day Designs for updates on Cypress Market Night, and that we will see you all out there at Skinner Road & Hwy 290 on April 9th!

Rainy Day Designs

I hope to continue to work at Cypress Market Nights, but this retail location is a Godsend right now with my arthritis. No wrestling canopies and tables with this arrangement (although I’m proud to have that canopy!). I may have to take a break from the Market until the RA is more under control.

This week began as very frustrating and there were doubts about quite a few things. But now, I think I’ve found something really, really great. A retail spot!

Nothing is set in stone, but it looks like beginning in May, I will have a retail spot in a lovely store located in Beaumont, Texas! While I was visiting the area this week, I had a huge response to my products and was well received by the managers of this location.

This is all very exciting, and let’s keep our fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly! I’m happy to be expanding!

With the opening of a new restaurant in the shopping center, there were issues with parking last week. So this week has been cancelled to figure out the logistics that will make every one happy.

Please be patient with us as we are a new market! Convenience and the happiness of our patrons is our number one concern, so please know that we are working diligently to fix any glitches, and make Cypress Market Nights a fun and pleasant family shopping experience!

Our next projected Market date is Friday, March 26. Any updates will be posted here, and there are signs posted at the Market location at Hwy 290 and Skinner Road.

In addition to the silent auction fundraiser and fabulous vendor booths, there will be performances by the Cy Creek Drama students, face painting and games.

Cypress Market Nights’ Raising Cypress will be hosting Cy-Creek High School’s Theater Department, raising funds to send the cast and crew to an international competition. Cypress Market Nights is very proud of our local students and we hope that everyone in our community will come out, rally around them and enjoy a great evening of fun and  entertainment. There will be a silent auction, raffles, face painting, a magic show, various carnival games, sodas and candy sales benefiting the theater group. The Cy-Creek students involved in the theater department will be performing various selections throughout the evening, including scenes from “Pippin”, the musical that Cy-Creek will be performing at the International Thespian Festival held in June in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Raising Cypress is a group of vendor volunteers who are consistent participants in Cypress Market Nights. We are the official organizers of all the non-profit events that will be hosted at Cypress Market Nights. It is our goal to help raise funds and awareness of local schools, organizations and other groups who are in need of assistance.

If you know of a group or organization that could use some support, please let us know! You can leave information here in the comments section or come out Friday, March 12 to Cypress Market Nights and talk to anyone wearing a black, Raising Cypress T-shirt.  Because together,
