Cypress Station Market Nights

2009 October 25
by greenanthropology

There is a new market just started in our area: Cypress Station Market Nights. Rainy Day Designs was there for  the Grand Opening, and grand it was!

No one could have asked for more beautiful October weather. It was so great to see so many families out and about, enjoying the food, music and crafts.

Rainy Day Designs was a big success, which also means a larger contribution to Project Linus materials. Although, if I am going to be this busy with RDD all the time, I may have to stick to financial donations rather than Blanketeering- we will see how that goes. I love sewing so much, I prefer to do the work!

So, naturally success allows for new fabrics to be added to the inventory, and I’m so excited about the newest addition! It is a Michael Miller print (of course) called ‘Birds of Norway’, and it is

absolutely adorable. I have also added two new prints by Premier Prints: ‘Madison’ in green and white, and ‘Wild’ in pink.  These should work well with the Holidays quickly approaching.

If you are interested in visiting Market Nights and are in the area, let me know and I will email you a map with directions and times.

Cheers!

Rainy Day Goes to Market

This will be the second weekend that RDD has set up stand at Debbie’s Garden and Farmer’s Market! It’s a great spot- Debbie is a vivacious, sweet soul, the produce is gorgeous, and the other weekend craft vendors are sure to have something for every one.

This weekend I am adding fresh baked bread and home grown basil to the stand. RDD is really about the creature comforts in life and the things that help make it simple and practical.

I hope that if you are in the area, you will swing on by and set a spell!

Rainy Day Designs Featured on The Buzz!

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting Brandy, the powerhouse behind The Buzz, a blog source for coupons and promotions.  She has been generous enough to feature Rainy Day Designs on her blog, with a review and a 10% discount for her readers. If you would like to be eligible for this discount, you need to go by her blog and sign up as one of her followers! http://www.bzzagentroyalty.blogspot.com/ She will link you to Rainy Day’s Etsy shop to browse my shelves of goodies. This promotion will be available sometime  in the month of July, so go by there often to keep up with what she has to say.

Brandy has a plethora of coupons and discount goodies, and the items she features are really beautiful. Not only that, but she is a very talented crafter (adorable hair bows) and a photographer. I think every one would be well advised to visit her site often to take advantage of the information she shares. Not to mention that it is FUN! Her site is cute, and entertaining to browse. So go check it out, sign up, and go back often!

Philanthropy and Shopping: A Beautiful Combination!

Rainy Day Designs is now reserving 10% of each sale for the purchase of materials for Project Linus. Project Linus is a non-profit organization that distributes hand made blankets to children of all ages who have suffered serious illness or trauma. Rainy Day Designs’ blankets will be distributed throughout the Houston, Texas area.

As funds are collected, materials to create these blankets will be purchased. As the blankets are finished, pictures will be posted in Rainy Day Designs’ Project Linus page so you can see exactly how you are contributing. I hope you will consider not only purchasing something practical and adorable for the child in your life, but consider making a difference in the life of a little one who matters so much to someone else.

Please visit www.RainyDaySmocks1.etsy.com to make your purchase. It’s a great cause, bringing comfort to children (infants in NICU to 18 years old) who need it the most. Recipients are in Texas Childrens’ Hospital, Memorial Herman Hospital, Red Cross, and other charitable institutions.

Visit www.projectlinus.org for more information on how you can help!

I’m learning that everything about owning your own business takes… time. Thanks to my wonderful husband, I will soon have my official website, rainydaysmocks.com, up and running. It will be complete with photos, shopping cart, and checkout managed by PayPal. Right now, it’s just a bunch of ads from GoDaddy, but will be very different before long.

Getting Started

Welcome to my personal space for Rainy Day Designs. This is my space for brainstorming and research for my own product development. I have a fabulous line of childrens’ smocks, but I’m always looking for ways to make improvements, and streamlining the business end to make things as easy as possible for my customers.
